SHELBY, Ohio – Cooper Enterprises has installed a BIMA machining center. Sold by IMA Schelling, the BIMA both CNC machines and edgebands components.
The BIMA features dual zones to run two panels simultaneously. Combined, the two zones can manufacture up to 6-by-16-foot panels.
The benefit of a machine that routes, edgebands, seams and trims is that it is a “one-stop shop.” It can prevent potential material handling damages, and it can save time since material stays in one place.
The machine also features:
An 18-position tool changer
Horizontal and vertical boring heads
Contour edgebanding capabilities
Edgebanding fed from two separate reels of edging
The BIMA is fed by conveyors and a Schmalz crane with a 20-foot arm that holds up to 300 pounds. The machine will automatically feed out waste, as it is supported by a contained dust collection system.
The purchase of the BIMA adds to Cooper Enterprises’ arsenal of eight CNC routers and two edgebanding machines, in addition to its laminating lines, panel saws and other essential woodworking equipment.
